The Casa Antonio bar has been awarded winner of the ‘II Ruta de la Tapa Gourmet del Boquerón’ for its plate of smoked boquerones with tomato and capers, says the tourism councillor, Marta Marín.
The judging panel, made up of representatives from the municipality’s womens’ association and professionals from the restaurant and gastronomic sector, has awarded the prize “for responding to the concept of tapas finger food, for giving prominence to the boqueron, arranging all elements of a tapas in a way that highlights the taste of the prime ingredient, for acknowledging a traditional dish and for using textures well, resulting in a harmonious taste”. As well, the prize from the public has been given to La Lola bar for their courgette and boqueron carpaccio with crispy ham and peach sauce.
500 euros will be given to the winner of the judges’ vote, and 300 euros to the winner of the public vote. Among those that participated in voting for the public’s prize, a raffle of 500 euros has been carried out, which goes to Mari Carmen López Hernández.
The mayor of Rincón de la Victoria, Francisco Salado, has emphasised the great quality of the dishes that were presented in the competition. ” The participating establishments have displayed their creativity and culinary knowledge, offering excellent tapas to all who took part in the ‘ruta'”. He also reminded us that the ‘Fiesta del Boquerón Victoriano’, which marked the beginning of the ‘Ruta de la Tapa Gourmet’, attracted around 25,000 people last year. “Rincón de la Victoria has a lot to offer in gastronomy and leisure activities and it shows that we have one of the most consolidated culinary events in the Malaga province, with which we help the local businesses to invigorate their activity when the summer season is over”.
A total of 12 establishments from the four urban centres, have taken part in the II Ruta de la Tapa Gourmet del Boquerón. The event has relied on the collaboration of the ‘Asociación de Comerciantes y Empresarios de Rincón de la Victoria’ (the association for traders and businesses in Rincon de la Victoria) (ACERV) and it has been sponsored by the town council and ‘Cervezas Alhambra’.
