The fourth day of the strike by the cleaning and collection workers in Rincón de la Victoria seems set to continue as neither side can come to an agreement.
Hilario Canillas, the union representative states that the salaries published in the town hall’s Facebook are false and being used to discredit the workers and turn public opinion against them. The workers also dispute the accusation that the vandalism being perpetrated in the town is down to them. They argue that it is others who are trying to show their dissatisfaction with the current situation.
The stand-in mayor, Antonio Manuel Rando, confirmed that the government has asked for further talks with representatives of the union. He states that the current economic situation does not allow much room for manoeuvre.
The opposition groups of PSOE, IU, PA, and PSIRV have requested an extraordinary meeting within the next 15 days to try and deal with the situation. The UI and PSOE have proposed that EMMSA be taken over by the town hall as one solution to the conflict.
