According to information recently given by the councillor of Urbanismo e Infraestructuras, Urbanism and Infrastructure, Antonio Manuel Rando, Rincón de la Victoria’s town council is undertaking different efforts of improvement for traffic and pedestrian security in various parts of the municipality. The works suppose an approximate investment of 55,000 euros, co-financed by the Diputación Provincial (Provincial council office) and the Consistorio (Town hall), in charge of the Plan Provincial de Cooperación a las Obras y Servicios de Competencia Municipal y de la Red Viaria Local (PPOS), a provincial plan for the cooperation of works and services of municipal responsibility and of the local road networks.
The first of these efforts consists of the extension of the platform for the bridge in the Arroyo Pajaritos crossing with Camino Viejo de Vélez. A new pavement on the south side will be constructed and the north side will be extended with the positioning of new railings along the entire perimeter of the bridge, the same along the east and west side. As well as this, the road will be paved in order to improve the route and signs will also be put up. The reason for these works is to “give continuity to the pavement on the north, which is currently obstructing the pedestrian crossing, so as to improve the design for greater security in terms of the vehicular traffic” as stated by the councillor. The works, that have an investment of around 30,000 euros, will be finished by the contracted business, Probisa, in a few weeks.
Salado: “We guarantee pedestrian security”
The mayor of Rincón, Francisco Salado, outlined that with these important efforts “we will improve the pedestrian presence at the same time as attending to local demand and we will guarantee security, pedestrian as well as vehicular. It’s important to take into account that these are very busy traffic points given their close proximity to residential zones”. A second effort follows the connection of Calle Divisoria with Ángeles, by a one way street. “The objective is to avoid traffic jams that occur in calle Divisoria, which is currently a two way, dead-end street but which will turn itself into a one way road in order to improve the vehicular traffic”, explains the councillor. These works have a budget of 15,000 euros and, again, they will be executed by Probisa.
Three new bus stops due to local petition
Finally, and in terms of local petitions, the installation of three new bus stops for public transport will proceed: the first in the Calle Rosal, next to the crossing with Azahar; a second along the Benagalbón road crossing with Cortijo Acebuchal; and the third on the MA-3119 (Benagalbón-Moclinejo), at the level of the Carril Los Narcisos. This has been valued at around 10,000 euros.
