On Sunday 25th November at 20:00hrs in the Church in La Cal del Moral the Rincón Municipal Band will play in honour of Saint Cecilia, who’s festival is celebrated November 22nd. They will perform a program that will include popular classics as well as new material, so as to appeal to all.
Included in the repertoire is the symphonic poem ‘Noah’s Ark’, which is a new composition describing passages from the bible. The audience will be able to hear the trumpets of the elephants. The flood and the quantity of animals gathering…’across the landscape through sounds’, says the band’s director, Salvador Vázquez.
Vázquez acknowledges that this poem is a challenge as well as a milestone in the history of the band. It shows new tunes to the audience. The band has worked very hard to put on this concert.
They will also made room for the Pasodobles; the first being ‘Ateneo Musical’ and the second ‘Yakka’, as well as for the processional marches which have been part of the band’s character since they began to participate in the Holy Week. On Sunday, they will play the funeral march ‘Helplessness’ by G.A. Beigbeder.
They will also play the symphonic poem ‘Finlandia’ by Sibelius. This is a poem born in romanticism and is a narration of the oppression suffered by the Russian peoples.
Go…it sounds great!
