The Department of Culture is starting a program of new activities in Las Musas de la Cala del Moral, to show Flamenco and its history. It is being done in collaboration with la Peṅa El Piyayo.
Its aim is to spread the culture through a series of concerts. The first one is dedicated to women in Flamenco, on Friday 8th March. This will be followed in later weeks by youth in flamenco, the songs of the Málaga province and their roots, and the Gypsy singers. The final concert will be on 14th June.
In addition the Peṅa El Piyayo will host a presentation of their work on 12th July.
All concerts will start at 20@00 and entrance is priced at €3.
Popular Songs in Film
On 15th March there is the opening of a series of events showcasing a journey through the careers of artists like Concha Piquer, Imperio Argentina and Marifé de Triana. The first event is a performance by Paqui Torres (Se llama Copla) among other artists and a talk by the historian of the popular song José Manuel Martín de la Plaza.
Finally, Las Sala Las Musas will stage a performance by local groups and artists of Rincón de la Victoria.
