The Councillor for Culture that the public library Antonio Hileria in Rincón de la Victoria has been recognized by the Ministry of education, culture and sport for its reading development project.
In addition, the programme, called “some stories, many books and anything else” has been selected from over 3,000 projects nationwide as one of the top three.
The project has been held in collaboration with the Centro Andaluz de las Letras and has held numerous events and activities. There have been meetings with children’s authors and illustrators as well as those writing for adults. There have been themed conferences on astronomy and ecology, days devoted to comics, stories and Picasso. The poet Miguel Hernández was covered on the occasion of the centenary of his birth and a photography competition was held. All the activities have been promoted through social networks, website and a blog.
Martin explained “we are working to provide services and resources that have an impact on the society and can help to promote the public library’s cultural facilities, based on quality, rigour and service to reach all segments of our population” The councillor added that “it is not just a library, but a space to expand the cultural opportunities in the municipality”
The public library Municipal Antonio Hileria de Rincón de la Victoria currently has 7,500 members and loans between 30,000 and 50,000 books per year.
