The City of Rincon de la Victoria will begin on Monday morning the preliminary signaling and demolition work to undertake improvement works that will allow a greater flow of traffic in the Avenida de la Candelaria with the confluence of Camino Viejo de Vélez, La Corta and Almijara Sierra Street.
As explained by the Town Planning and Infrastructure councilor, Manuel Antonio Rando, “the objective is to sort the traffic at this junction by implanting a roundabout, besides making a new connection in that street and Corta and Sierra Almijara street. “This will avoid the current crossroads that complicate the many maneuvers that occur in the area.”
The renovation work has been awarded to the company Probisa worth 524,000 euros including VAT. Rando has indicated that the work should be completed by summer. He stated that “After Easter the first phase will begin, as long as the weather permits.”
The mayor, Francisco Salado, said the traffic will not be badly affected during the works, “but Almijara Sierra Street, will be closed at La Corta street. Works are planned so as not to influence the circulation due to the heavy flow of vehicles which occur daily in this area. “
All existing pavement, both on the sidewalk and in the street, all urban amenities and underground utilities will be previously demolished. Furthermore, furnishing elements and urban signal swill be taken down too. The work, which consists of two phases, will be topped up with the installation of gardens, bins and benches.
