Council Budgets


economiaeinterventorNew Budgets for 2013 are hoping to be approved in a November meeting of the council and in place by 1st January 2013. The council have previously been working within budgets set by the outgoing council in 2011.

It is anticipated, that with exception of Social Welfare, all areas will be working on reduced budgets. The Mayor, Francisco Salado indicated that he was going to look at saving money on the lighting and energy used in the municipality and negotiate a reduction with the energy companies.


The City Council is considering the creation of a semi-urban park in Torre de Benagalbón on 15,000 square metres of land located north of La Marina College. It is thought that negotiations are underway with Aguagest.
The Councillor of Finance, Antonio Fernández reiterated that the taxes in 2013 will remain the same. The only exception would be water as this has to be increased in line with the Consumer Price Index.
