The department of the environment has opted to close the promenade that runs from the Arroyo de Granadillas to Las Gaviotas to traffic during the summer.
The Councillor for the environment, Sergio Diaz, explains that they have made parking available for the beach goers along the arroyo de Granadillas, the esplanade in front of Locea, one close to the Mercadona and another next to the old railway station in Torre de Benagalbón.
Diaz explained that cutting off the traffic from the beach will comply with the coastal Act which forbids traffic on maritime areas open to the public. Residents have long complained of the high speed of vehicles on the promenade and the dust they throw up.
The mayor has asked that the parking areas and parking free zones be respected.
