Benagalbón’s Centre for Malaga’s Folklore Studies and Dramatic Arts is presenting a broad cultural programme that will be in effect until June thanks to a budget allocation of 40,000 euros.
The activities were presented last week by the mayor of Rincón de la Victoria, Francisco Salado, the provincial representative for culture, Juan José Bernal, and the councillor of the cultural field, Antonio José Martín, who emphasised “the quality and level of the schedule which will be carried out by companies, artists from Malaga and professionals in the world of culture”.
Amongst the music schedule, there will also be a performance of one of the season’s galas called ‘Viajero de Copla’ presented by Domi del Postigo. He aims to recuperate flamenco and reunite artists of such brilliance as María Lozano, patroness of concerts, and Juanma Jerez, who will perform on the 26th April in Benagalbón. Beforehand those attending will be able to participate in a master class by the artist Mariadela.
The councillor of culture has emphasised the importance of resuming activity in Benagalbón’s Centre for Folklore Studies “in order to offer citizens a cultural schedule with workshops, such as making hats for the verdiales dance and in the style of the maragatas, that are connected with the municipality’s Las Salas Las Musas and Sala de Exposiciones”.
In terms of dramatic arts, the centre in Benagalbón will hold theatre performances ‘Natta’ by the Teatro del Velador; the monologist Asun Ayllón; and the musical ‘The Funamviolistas’.
As well, they will offer different workshops run by three professionals from the world of music; Kepa Junkera will give a conversation workshop ‘El mundo de la triktixa’; Xabier Díaz and Xabier Lozano will offer a course in hand percussion and traditional singing under the title ‘Cotidiáfonos. Natta TONIGHT at 21:00
Tonight at 21:00 in Benagalbón’s Centre for Malaga’s Folklore Studies and Dramatic Arts, the company from Seville; ‘Teatre del Veledor’, will present the original ‘Natta’, a theatre performance directed by Juan Dolores Caballero ‘El Chino’, and interpreted by Manuel Solano and Eva Rubio.
Natta takes a look back at the traditional circus. Two strange characters are two charming clowns who find themselves creating a world of impossible illusions that are only thinkable in terms of surrealism and innocence. This uniting of clowns and musical theatre is thanks to the work of more than ten people among whom include Inmaculada Almendral for musical composition, Mai Canto for costume design, Rafael Gómez for lighting and Israel García and Jonathan Alcaide for construction and staging.
